Clear my head - Notion template for journaling and productivity
A New Journaling Technique
If you are not journaling already, you are missing out. It is such a low investment exercise that pays rich dividends of mental clarity. Most of our work these days is knowledge work that requires our brains to be at their de-cluttered best. I have been journaling for several years and used different media to do that. My preference is pen and paper. One of the joys of journaling is that when you look back at what you had written 3, 5 or 10 years ago, it is always interesting and insightful. A small memory that you had forgotten. A thought pattern that always existed but you couldn't see it at that point. As I read through my previous journals - I noticed that I wasn't very coherent. I jumped from one train of thought to another and it sounded like drivel. Still fun though.
Why did I create this?
I wanted to address at least part of the incoherence. Secondly, the journaling exercise left behind a trail of tasks and ideas that ended up back on my head. They re-consumed my mental bandwidth. That's when i realized that my state of mind is a mixture of tasks, ideas and emotions. I had to de-couple them first to get back to some semblance of coherence. So, that's what I did. I created a worksheet that allowed me to process my thought stream as a meditative experience. After I finished the worksheet, I could journal more effectively. I could either address my emotions or I could map out a plan to tackle my growing list of tasks. The worksheet anchored my train of thoughts allowing me to journal more effectively. My hope in sharing this with you is so that you can experience the same clarity as I did. I am also building a physical copy of this journal template (based on the feedback of usage).
What is in it for you:
- A simple notion template that stores your journal entries, tasks and ideas
- This is a guided two-part exercise - the first part is the worksheet and the second part is the distillation.
- You will have a distilled set of tasks that you can crank through and get super productive
- You will have a set of ideas that you can think more deeply and develop into something concrete
- You will have a better assessment of your state of mind - full of tasks? dominated by ideas? or is it raw emotions rocking the boat?
- You can figure out which parts of the day you are most productive.
Other info:
- A plain journal would also work very well. I can send you a soft copy of the worksheet that you can print out and use. Just reach out to me at twitter (@fitdollar) or email me (reach@fitdollar.com)
- My goal is to spread the mental clarity and the reason there is even a charge on this template is that every dollar goes back into development/maintenance of my free app - fitdollar(focused on physical fitness). And, every dollar helps.
